1 - CONFERENCE

Tree :  it is medium strong, it produces fruit early, it is resilient and it has high yield due to parthenocarpy. It needs careful trimming; otherwise size and quality of fruit can be damaged. It is similar to the quince tree. It is always recommended to use  virus free materials.

Fruit : Sometimes its shape is not smooth (due to parthecarpy or insufficient dusting), it is medium size to big. It has clear rust color spots on green skin. Flesh is white- cream color, sweet and aromatic. It can be kept at controlled atmosphere for months, but flesh can easily decay in unripe fruit.

2 - COMICE

It has short and thick appearance. Peel color is dull yellow or drab green. It has sensitive skin with reddish brown spots. Sometimes, there is round shaped blushing. Fruit is very juicy and aromatic. It is known as the most delicious pear with white flesh tasting like cream.

3 - CONCORDE

Concorde pear has the best characteristics of all pear varieties. It is longer and has firmer flesh than the Conference. It is juicier than Comice. Skin color is yellow- green and has a little reddish –brown color. Fruit becomes soft while it is ripening and skin color turns golden blonde.

 4 -ABATE FETEL

Tree : it is medium strong tree. Fruits are found in groups. It is suitable for budding with quince tree at places where chlorosis is not seen. Good results are obtained by interim fruitbearing  and micro production without budding. It bears fruit early if it is trimmed at the appropriate time. ,

Fruit : it is big (200 gr.), long shape and can be easily distinguished. Skin is thin, yellow- green in color. Flesh is firm, juicy, sweet and aromatic. It has started to be produced as an alternative to Conference in other countries.

Season:
for long storage, it must be picked the first ten days of September.

5 -WILLIAMS

This pear variety’s other name is Bartlett. It is known as the classic pear shape. It is green and becomes yellow while it is ripening. Furthermore, some are red color. Although green and red are in different color, their taste and characteristics are the same.
